Egypt’s strategic location, richness in natural resources, and abundance labour force makes it a prime platform for doing business in the Middle East and Africa.
Egypt has a significantly strategic location, centred between Africa, Asia and Europe. It controls the shortest link between east and west, the Suez Canal. It covers an area of approximately one million square kilometres, which makes it the 30th largest country worldwide and the 12th largest country in Africa.
The climate is a hot dry desert climate except on the northern Mediterranean coast, which is rainy in winter. Egypt is characterised by a high hot temperature during summer months, and a short moderate cold winter.
With respect to its resources, Egypt is the largest non-OPEC oil producer in Africa, and the second largest in natural gas production, currently aiming at becoming the natural gas hub of the Middle East. It also holds Africa’s largest phosphate reserves, is rich in gold and considered as one of the world’s top ten goldmines producers.
Labour force accounts for more than 31% of the total population. In this respect, the government is currently focusing on fostering technical and vocational training in order to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of the labour market and narrow the mismatch between the market’s demand and supply.
